The trip at a glance
Dublin to OAK is a straight run west on I-580, then south to the airport — typically 30 to 40 minutes outside commute hours. Even in weekday traffic, it's usually the shortest and most predictable airport drive available from the Tri-Valley.
Your options: taxi, BART, rideshare, driving
- Taxi (scheduled): door-to-terminal, a fixed quote confirmed at booking, and a driver committed to your trip — works at any hour, including before dawn.
- BART + connector: from Dublin/Pleasanton station, transfer at Bay Fair toward the Coliseum station connector. Inexpensive, but adds transfers with luggage and doesn't run early enough for the first flights of the day.
- Rideshare: workable midday, but availability in Dublin at 4–5 AM is hit-or-miss, and pricing can surge exactly when you need it most.
- Driving yourself: economy parking adds daily costs and shuttle time on both ends — it adds up fast on trips longer than a couple of days.
Know your terminal
OAK has two terminals: Terminal 1 serves most airlines, and Terminal 2 is home to Southwest. They're a short walk apart, but knowing yours ahead of time makes drop-off faster. The airport's compact size is its best feature — security lines and walking distances are consistently shorter than at SFO.
